"Federal National" Participates in the 15th summit of the parliamentary heads in Geneva

Geneva, July 28/ WAM/ His Excellency Maryam Majid Bin Thaniya, Second Deputy Chairman of the Federal National Council, President of the Parliamentary Women Forum in the Parliament of the Mediterranean, confirmed that the UAE represents a pioneering model in empowering women at the level Regional and international.
This came in her speech during her participation in the 15th Summit of Parliamentary Presidents, which was held today in the Swiss city of Geneva under the title: “Leadership for a Supreme and Sustainable Peace”, and organized by the International Parliamentary Union in cooperation in the Swiss Parliament at the headquarters of the International Labor Organization, with the participation of His Excellency Afra Rashid Al -Basti, Assistant Secretary -General for Parliamentary Communication in the Federal National Council.
In her speech, His Excellency Maryam Bin Thania stressed the importance of intensifying global efforts to advance gender equality, facing challenges that still hinder women’s empowerment, and the need to continue to push a wheel to empower them forward.
The UAE’s hosting of the second session of the Parliamentary Women’s Forum, which is organized by the Federal National Council in cooperation with the Mediterranean Parliament during the period from 26 to 28 January 2026 in Abu Dhabi.
She pointed out that the forum will focus on four main axes dealing with the issues of enhancing women’s empowerment in the economic and political fields, improving the access of women to health services, education, environmental justice, activating the role of women in combating terrorism efforts, and combating sexual violence based on generosity related to terrorism.
Her Excellency pointed out that the Parliamentary Women Forum in the Mediterranean Parliament focuses on strengthening the role of women in parliamentary and societal work, by achieving major goals represented in the advancement of democracy and the consolidation of women’s rights, promoting parliamentary cooperation and coordination in equality issues, and ensuring their fair representation at all levels of responsibility within the organization.
At the end of her speech, she stressed the importance of collective commitment to empowering women, enhancing her presence in decision -making, and working together for a more just and glorious future, ensuring that every woman is seen, heard, and enables.
