International and international agencies calling on Israel to cancel a condition that restricts the work of international organizations in Gaza and the West Bank

Humanitarian organizations have warned that unless urgent action is taken, the majority of partners from international NGOs may be canceled by September 9 or before – which will force them to withdraw all international employees, which prevents vital and life -saving humanitarian assistance to the Palestinians.

This condition is part of a set of new restrictions for international NGOs, which includes possible consequences for public criticism of the policies and practices of the government of Israel, according to a statement issued by the humanitarian work team in the occupied Palestinian land*.

The statement stated that NGOs are not registered under the new system are already prohibited from sending any supplies to Gaza. In July of this year, the Israeli authorities rejected repeated requests from 29 NGOs to ship humanitarian aid to Gaza, justifying that the organizations are “unauthorized.”

This policy has already prevented the delivery of life -saving aid, including medications, food and hygiene supplies. This deeper affects women, children, the elderly and people with disabilities, which increases the risk of abuse and exploitation.

International NGOs also provide decisive support to Palestinian NGOs that depend on international partners to obtain supplies, financing and technical support. The statement warned that without this cooperation, its operations will be interrupted, which would deprive more societies of food, medical care, shelter and biotechnology services.

The statement also warned that obstruction of NGOs from participating in the collective humanitarian response violates Israel’s obligations under international humanitarian law. “It comes at a time when we receive daily reports of deaths due to severe hunger, while Gaza faces famine conditions.”

The United Nations and its partners should be allowed to do their job

On the relevant level, Philip Lazarini, Commissioner -General of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) stressed the need to allow the United Nations and its partners to do their work.

He said in a post on X: “Before the famine spread, community distribution centers, with the support of the partners, provided food and aid for two million people spread across the Gaza Strip. Five months of continuous attempts to replace the coordinated response to the United Nations with four Israeli military distribution points, hunger has become the latest killer in Gaza.”

Lazarini said it was time to provide aid safely, without obstacles and dignity.
