The Lebanese Prime Minister calls on Iran to stop considering Lebanon a “card to improve the terms of its negotiations”

Lebanese Prime Minister Nawaf Salam said on Friday that Iran must stop dealing with his country as a “card to improve the terms of its negotiations” aimed at ending the war with the United States, while a war is raging in Lebanon between Israel and Hezbollah, which is supported by Tehran.

Salam said during the launch of an international humanitarian appeal to Lebanon, “If I were to address Iran with one word, it would be to have mercy on our south and stop dealing with it and its people as a mere card to improve the terms of its negotiations.”

He added, “We are the owners of a country that refuses to turn into a mailbox for other people’s messages, or an open field for their wars. Lebanon is not a card on anyone’s table, and the south is not a reserve front for anyone.”
