Sports federations in the Emirates/ ambitious strategies to enhance international achievements (6)

Abu Dhabi, June 6, 2017 – The sports federations in the UAE continue to implement their ambitious strategic plans aimed at strengthening the presence of UAE sports on the continental and international arenas, by investing in national talent, raising the efficiency of the teams, and developing preparation and qualification programs, in line with the objectives of the National Sports Strategy 2031, and enhancing the country’s sporting achievements in various global forums.

This report comes within a series of weekly reports published by the Emirates News Agency, WAM, to review the plans and strategies of sports federations in the areas of discovering talent, expanding the base of practice, creating champions, and applying standards of administrative governance and organizational quality to support the achievement of more achievements.

As part of the efforts aimed at promoting community sports, the Emirates Sports for All Federation implements various programs and initiatives aimed at establishing a culture of physical activity among various segments of society, by building partnerships with sports federations and relevant institutions, and expanding the scope of sporting events in various regions of the country.

The Federation works according to short- and long-term plans in coordination with sports sectors and specialized clubs, to organize events and activities in commercial centers, sports complexes and various halls, in a way that contributes to expanding the base of community participation and promoting healthy lifestyles.

His Excellency Saeed Al Ajel, President of the Emirates Sports for All Federation, stressed that community events and awareness of the importance of practicing sports represent a strategic priority in the Federation’s work, pointing out that the Federation is implementing its initiatives with a group of partners in cooperation with the Ministry of Sports, the National Olympic Committee, federations, sports councils, specialized clubs, and parties concerned with community activities.

He explained that the Federation has monitored positive indicators that reflect the growing interest in community sports, the continuous rise in rates of participation in sporting events and activities, and the health, psychological and social benefits they achieve, stressing the continuation of work to develop and diversify initiatives to keep pace with the aspirations of community members and the growing boom in the sports sector.

In terms of competitive achievement, the UAE Judo Federation continues to implement strategic axes aimed at raising the game to advanced levels globally, based on cumulative experience strengthened by participation in five Olympic Games, the most recent of which was the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.

The federation focuses on developing the age stages as the cornerstone for creating champions, by building a strong base of male and female players, and providing opportunities to participate in local and foreign tournaments, which contributes to refining talent and raising their technical and competitive levels.

The Federation pays great attention to strengthening international partnerships and benefiting from world-leading experiences, most notably cooperation with Japan’s Tokai University, which is one of the most prominent institutions specialized in preparing judo champions and heroines, including Maitha Abdullah Al Neyadi in the under-57 kilogram category, to benefit from advanced Japanese expertise in the game.

His Excellency Mohammed bin Thaloub Al Darei, President of the Emirates Judo Federation, stressed that the Olympic dream represents a top priority in the federation’s strategy, indicating that the goal is to achieve a qualitative achievement during the upcoming Olympic cycles, based on the accumulated experience and elements capable of competing at the highest levels.

He added that the federation continues to work to strengthen partnerships with continental and international federations, and cooperate with clubs to discover promising talents and develop their capabilities, in addition to organizing local championships for different age groups, to ensure expanding the practice base and consolidating the presence of the game at the state level.

In volleyball, the Emirates Football Federation is implementing specific programs and initiatives aimed at raising the technical level of national teams and enhancing their readiness to participate in foreign tournaments according to the best technical standards, benefiting from the success achieved by the current season’s competitions and the positive indicators they have produced in terms of technical development.

In its development plans, the Federation is based on close cooperation with the clubs, as they are the main partner in preparing players and qualifying technical personnel, benefiting from a wide base of qualified elements and accumulated experience that the game possesses at the state level.

Awad Al Mansouri, Assistant Secretary-General of the Federation, explained that the Federation works according to an integrated system to develop the game by implementing modern plans, enhancing participation in foreign tournaments, and organizing local events that contribute to raising the levels of national teams and teams.

He pointed out that external participation is of great importance within the federation’s strategy, as it provides opportunities to gain experience, raise competitive readiness, and enhance the presence of UAE volleyball in various events, including the Gulf Games and the junior and women’s championships, in parallel with consolidating the basic rules for the spread of the game at various levels.
