The United Nations: The Israeli government’s decision on Gaza threatens to ignite another terrible separation in the conflict

Miroslav Tinch, Assistant Secretary-General for Europe in the Department of Political Affairs and Peace Building, referred- before the Council- to the reports received on August 8, and stated that the Israeli security cabinet approved the proposed plan of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to “Hazimah Hamas”, and approved five “principles to end the war”: the disarmament of Hamas; And the release of all hostages; The Gaza Strip is stripped of weapons; And Israeli security control over the sector; And the establishment of an alternative civil administration, not Hamas, or the Palestinian Authority.
Anchta pointed to reports of Israeli media that the government expects all civilians to displace from Gaza City by October 7, 2025, which will affect about 800,000 people, many of whom were previously displaced.
Reports indicate that the Israeli forces will surround the city after that for three months. This will be followed, according to reports, two additional months to seize the camps in central Gaza and purify the entire region of the Palestinian armed groups.
The UN official warned that if these plans are implemented, it is likely that they will lead to another disaster in Gaza, and their echoes throughout the region, and cause further forced displacement, killing and destruction, which increases the increpared suffering of the population.
He added: “Everyone has the right to life, freedom and security. The Palestinians must be able to return to their homes.”
The clear position of the United Nations stressed that the only way to stop the huge human suffering in Gaza is through a complete, immediate and lasting ceasefire, calling for the release of all hostages immediately and without conditions.
The UN official called on Israel to adhere to its obligations under international humanitarian law, and to allow the delivery of humanitarian aid on a large scale to the population quickly, safely and without obstacles. He also stressed the need to protect civilians, including humanitarian workers, who seek help.
He reaffirmed that there is no military solution to the armed conflict in Gaza or the broader Israeli -Palestinian conflict. He said “There will be no sustainable solution without ending the illegal Israeli occupation and achieving the two -state solution. Gaza is, and it must remain an integral part of a Palestinian state.”
Painful suffering of the soul
In turn, Ramish Rajasingham, head of the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs in Geneva and the director of the Coordination Division, said that the suffering that the Palestinians and the Israelis have suffered over the past 22 months “It was not less than being painful for the soul. Our common humanity imposes on us the end of this catastrophe immediately.”
He expressed great concern about the lengthy conflict and the additional human outcome, whose chapters likely will be revealed in the wake of the Israeli government’s decision to expand military operations in Gaza.
He said that this decision represents a serious escalation in a conflict that has already caused an unimaginable suffering. “For more than 670 days, the Palestinians in Gaza suffered from killing and daily injuries. According to the Ministry of Health in Gaza, more than 61,000 people were killed, including more than 18,000 children, and 151,000 others were injured.”
He reiterated the great Secretary -General of the United Nations regarding the implications of expanding military operations in Gaza on the West Bank, as military operations, settlers’ violence and homes demolishing continues at disturbing rates.
The UN official reminded of a decision International Justice Court It was taken last year and which called on Israel to end its illegal existence, policies and practices as soon as possible. He warned that developments in the West Bank exacerbated the existing humanitarian situation, “And what unfortunately remains less clear, not because it is less dangerous, but because global attention has left it.”
He added: “The countries – and everyone who has any influence – must consider our wounded collective conscience and gather the courage to do what is necessary to end this inhuman and pain. This is what international law also requires. Civilians must be protected, and their basic needs must be met. The hostages must be released unconditionally. The Palestinians who are detained arbitrarily must be released.”
Ramish Rajasingham called on Israel to agree to and facilitate humanitarian relief operations, whether inside or to the Gaza Strip, to reach the needy population.
He reminded that the temporary measures of the International Court of Justice in the issue of implementing the Gaza Gaza Prevention Agreement are still valid, including the demand that Israel take immediate and effective measures to enable the provision of basic services and humanitarian assistance that is intense.
The UN official continued, saying: “Life and dignity must be respected for all. International humanitarian law is the compass of behavior in wars, and is designed to ensure a minimum level of humanity. The parties and all countries must fulfill their commitment to it. The suffering must stop.”
The Secretary -General of the United Nations, Antonio Guterres, has expressed great concern about the Israeli government’s decision to “control Gaza City.” He said that this decision represents a serious escalation and risk deepening the catastrophic consequences of millions of Palestinians, and may increase the exposure of more lives, including the lives of the remaining hostages.
