Syria – UNICEF calls for urgent action with the increasing humanitarian needs of children and families in As -Suwayda

In a statement issued today, UNICEF reported that during violence, which reached its climax between 13 and 20 July, with a short escalation in early August, it was reported that at least five health centers targeted, killing two doctors, and blocking the work of ambulances and being attacked.
The UNICEF representative in Syria, Zainab Adam said that “The violence that killed and wounded children and health workers, was tragic and anxious to an adult worry.”.
She added that, given the continuous needs of children and affected families, the increasing efforts made by the interim authorities to facilitate access to the needy were a welcome step.
It reported that UNICEF, by joining the first joint convoy between the United Nations agencies to the province of As -Suwayda, handed over a life -saving supplies, and conducted a rapid field evaluation to ensure a faster and stronger response to the worsening crisis.
The invitation to provide access without obstacle
The organization explained that, in light of the continued insecurity and difficulty of access, food, medicine and other necessities are still scarce.
She added that more than 190,000 people, most of them women and children, had to escape from their homes during violence.
UNICEF has deployed 14 moving health and nutritional teams, provided health supplies and nutritional supplies to more than 4000 children, safe drinking water and fuel for water pumping stations, which benefited more than 30,000 people, entertainment materials, psychological support and activities to reduce the risk of explosive ammunition, which benefited 1500 affected children.
UNICEF representative in Syria confirmed that he “To ensure an effective response, it is necessary for humanitarian actors and commercial commodities to have access to unconventional access to the most affected societies.”.
