A wide spread of a new influenza dynasty in Gaza, amid a severe shortage of medication

The government media office in the Gaza Strip said on Sunday that the sector is witnessing a wide and severe spread of a new influenza strain in recent days, especially among the displaced people in shelters, patients and children specifically under disastrous health conditions caused by the siege and the continuation of the Israeli war.

The media office explained that the rapid spread is due to the overcrowding, the lack of water and ventilation, the deterioration of health services as a result of the war and the narrowing of the Israeli occupation, which poses a direct threat to the life of the most vulnerable groups.

He added that the few working hospitals deal with this pathological wave in light of a severe shortage of cadres and supplies, and depend on primary care and occasional treatments only, without integrated therapeutic protocols as a result of the occupation procedures.

The injuries were estimated in thousands in all governorates of the sector, with a daily increase, especially between children and the elderly and patients with chronic diseases.

He pointed out that the lack of special and effective drugs for this strain in the Gaza Strip, and if it is found in limited quantities, it is almost non -existent, as a result of the continued Israeli occupation by preventing the entry of dozens of categories of basic drugs, in a clear violation of Article 56 of the Fourth Geneva Convention, which obliges it to provide medical care for the population under occupation.
