The UAE asserts a meeting of government and international experts on the Convention on the Rights of the Child in Geneva that it continues to support all international efforts to ensure education for all

Geneva, September 3 / WAM / His Excellency Hajar Ahmed Al -Dhahali, Secretary -General of the Council of Education and Human Development and Society, affirmed that the UAE assumes the education file a top priority as an inherent right guaranteed under the constitution, and a right for every child, it is a basis for human building, empowering societies, and achieving sustainable development.
This came in front of the meeting of the open -organized international government working team on exploring the possibility of preparing an optional protocol project for the Convention on the Rights of the Child, which is held at the European headquarters of the United Nations in Geneva from 1 to 3 September 2025.
Her Excellency noted that the UAE provided free and compulsory education to the secondary stage for all citizens, and made Higher education for free to support their academic career, in addition to providing equal education opportunities for residents of different nationalities, taking into account the needs of people of determination, and the state was also keen to enable children to families with limited income to obtain high -quality education.
On the international level, its Excellency pointed out that the UAE continues to support international efforts to ensure education for all, in the belief in its humanitarian message, as education is one of the axes of Emirati foreign aid, especially in the areas affected by crises. The state announced at the summit of “renewing donor pledges for global partnership for education” in July 2021 a contribution of $ 100 million to support educational programs in developing countries.
At the conclusion of her statement before the meeting headed by Mrs. Nada Al -Nashef, Deputy High Commissioner for Human Rights, His Excellency Hajar Al -Dhahali confirmed that this meeting represents an initial step towards exchanging visions and exploring ways to enhance the right to education in all its stages, including early childhood, expressing hope that these discussions will contribute to creating a common ground that allows the progress to be presented in the interest of all children around The world, and enhances collective efforts towards achieving the fourth goal of sustainable development goals, which is to ensure good, fair and comprehensive education for all.
