Sex definition .. France’s boxing team excludes from the World Championship

The French Boxing Federation announced that the women’s national team will not participate in the 2025 World Championship, to be held in the British city of Liverpool, after the players failed to pass the sex identification tests imposed by the World Boxing Organization in a mandatory manner on all posts.

The sources of the Federation indicated that French laws do not allow such tests to be carried out except in specific cases, which do not include sports championships. Because of this, the players were unable to take the tests inside France.

The French Federation is communicating with the international organization, which proposed examinations in an independent laboratory in the British city of Leeds. Despite the approval of the players, the laboratory did not send the results during the specified deadline (24 hours), which led to the official exclusion of the French team from the tournament.

The case sparked widespread controversy in French and international sports, especially as it is not the first of its kind. In 2023, Algerian boxing, Iman Khalif was suspended from the World Championship for the same reason, but the International Olympic Committee re -allowed her to participate in the Paris 2024 Olympics, where the gold medal was achieved in the weight of 66 kg.

The French Federation expressed regret the decision, considering that it is “unfair to the players who have long prepared for the championship,” noting that it will continue to seek to find a solution that allows the participation of the boxes in the upcoming entitlements without contradicting national laws.
