The Arab League adopts the Egyptian-Saudi joint vision for regional security

Cairo, September 5 / WAM / The Council of the League of Arab States, at the level of foreign ministers, affirmed at the conclusion of the work of its regular session (164), which was held under the chairmanship of the United Arab Emirates, the adoption of a decision on the Egyptian-Saudi joint vision for security and cooperation in the region, which constitutes an important step towards enhancing Arab collective security and consolidating regional stability.
In its decision, the council explained that achieving security in the region can only take place collectively and in a way that respects the sovereignty, independence, and territorial integrity of the Arab countries, in accordance with the principles of the United Nations Charter and the provisions of international law, stressing the rejection of any unilateral security arrangements or imposition of force.
The Council also stressed that the resolution of conflicts in the region must be carried out by peaceful means in accordance with the relevant international legitimacy decisions, welcoming the Egyptian-Saudi initiative calling for a joint framework to enhance regional security that includes cooperation in combating terrorism, securing waterways, and protecting strategic infrastructure in a way that enhances the stability of the region.
The Council assigned the General Secretariat, in coordination with Egypt and Saudi Arabia, to prepare an integrated executive plan to present it to the next session of the Ministerial Council for its approval.
The Council held its regular session meetings (164) yesterday, Thursday, at the headquarters of the General Secretariat of the League of Arab States in Cairo, headed by His Excellency Khalifa Shaheen Al -Murre, Minister of State, where the ministers discussed a number of Arab and regional issues, foremost of which is the enhancement of Arab collective security and cooperation in priority strategic issues.
