Slav Fawakherji criticizes Salloum Haddad: Egypt is the portal of Arab art

The storm, which was bombed by the statement of the Syrian actor Salloum Haddad, has not yet subsided regarding the pronunciation of some Egyptian artists. After a wave of anger within the Egyptian artistic community, the Syrian actress Slav Fawakherji went out to put her clear position, stressing that what was issued by Haddad is “absolutely unacceptable.”

Fawakherji, in media statements, said that Egypt was never a country of art, but rather the “basic interface of Arab civilization”, stressing that any Arab artist cannot complete his career without passing through the Egyptian experience. She added that the Egyptian artistic history represents a real “school” for all Arab creators.

The Syrian actress added that “what Salloum Haddad said does not express the Syrian artistic community,” stressing that her relationship with the Egyptian stars is based on mutual respect, and that she refuses any abuse that may be directed to them.

The Representative Professions Syndicate in Egypt had issued a strongly worded statement against Haddad, before accepting his official apology. While her captain Ashraf Zaki was martyred at the famous house of poetry: “O man, the teacher, other than … Hala yourself was the education.”
