Marmoush wedding puts him on the bench with Egypt against Brazil

The star of the Egyptian national team and English club Manchester City, Omar Marmoush, joined the “Pharaohs” camp held in America, in preparation for competing in the 2026 World Cup, after he was absent from accompanying the delegation on its trip to America, due to his commitment to completing his wedding ceremony in Cairo.

The Egyptian newspaper Al-Ahram said that Marmoush arrived at the national team’s residence, after two days he spent in Cairo following his wedding, to directly join the ongoing preparations before the expected friendly confrontation with the Brazilian national team at dawn the day after tomorrow (2:00 UAE time) in the city of Cleveland, Ohio.

The Manchester City striker received a special reception from his teammates and the technical staff during the first training session, in which he participated last Tuesday evening, as the players organized an honorary ceremony to celebrate his return to the national team, in a scene that reflected the positive atmosphere prevailing in the Egyptian camp before the start of the global tournament.

Despite the importance of Marmoush in the technical calculations of the team, the indicators coming from the technical staff, led by Hossam Hassan, indicate that he will not be included in the starting lineup against Brazil, in light of the coach’s keenness to prepare him gradually after the short hiatus that accompanied his wedding ceremony and his late travel to the United States.

According to the expected technical arrangements, Marmoush will start the match from the bench, with the possibility of being used during parts of the second half, to test his physical and technical readiness before entering the atmosphere of official competitions.

On the other hand, the technical staff is considering making significant offensive adjustments during the match, most notably giving the team captain, Mohamed Salah, the clear spearhead role instead of his usual position on the right wing, while Haitham Hassan takes over the right front, while Mahmoud Hassan (Trezeguet) continues to play the role of the left wing within the offensive system that Hossam Hassan seeks to test against one of the strongest teams in the world.

The upcoming match is attracting great public interest, as the allotment of tickets allocated to the Egyptian team has been completely sold out, amid expectations of a large presence from members of the Egyptian community residing in Ohio and neighboring states, to support the team during the confrontation.

The past few days witnessed a remarkable interaction between the Egyptian fans and the national team’s stars, as Mohamed Salah was keen to meet a number of fans and take souvenir photos with them, in addition to signing shirts and gifts, in a scene that reflects the great popularity that the leader of the “Pharaohs” enjoys inside America.
