Sharjah .. The conclusion of the 14th session of the campaign "Prevention of heat exhaustion and diseases"

Sharjah, September 9 / WAM / The Ministry of Health and Community Protection, in cooperation with the partners from the federal, local and private bodies, concluded the activities of the fourteenth session of the campaign “Prevention of Heat and Diseases” in Sharjah, which lasted for two months in various regions of the emirate under the slogan “Your safety is our goal”, with the aim of enhancing health awareness among members of society with the risks of heat exposure in the summer, and supporting workers ’categories with preventive means, to avoid Thermal exhaustion or the resulting diseases.

The campaign targeted more than 10,000 workers in more than 13 diverse stations, as activities focused on awareness lectures in several languages, and to conduct field medical examinations, in support of prevention and promoting a healthy and safe work environment.

The campaign was keen to provide comprehensive services to workers that included examinations, blood pressure, and sugar level, in addition to distributing preventive, health and food supplies, in addition to providing practical instructions on first aid and proper behavior when exposed to thermal exhaustion.

These efforts are an embodiment of the Ministry’s strategy in protecting human health as a national priority and investment in the sustainability of human resources.

The campaign activities included field visits to open work sites, during which workers were educated about the health procedures to be followed, and to provide instructions to employers in factories and construction sites on the importance of applying preventive measures to ensure a safe work environment.

The virtual awareness of the campaign targeted more than half a million people through electronic media, and activities included other new categories this year such as workers in factories, auxiliary workers, workers in gas stations and delivery drivers in addition to the category of workers in field jobs exposed to sunlight such as police personnel, engineers, inspectors and families, with the aim of providing them with the necessary information to reduce the risk of thermal exhaustion, which is It translates the campaign’s goals in protecting public health.

Mohamed Abdullah Al -Zarouni, Director of the Representative Office of the Ministry of Health and Community Protection in Sharjah, stressed that this campaign launched by the Ministry annually during the summer months constitute a humanitarian and strategic commitment to protecting workers from the dangers of thermal exhaustion, which is a national responsibility and also embodies the practical approach of the UAE in the fact that people are the focus of development, and that community service is a shared responsibility between all governmental and private institutions.
