Renewable energy covers 57% of electricity consumption in Germany

Berlin, September 30 / WAM / Data of German federations in the renewable energy sector showed that this type of energy, led by wind and solar energy, currently constitutes approximately 57% of the electricity consumed in Germany.
The data indicated that this percentage in the first three quarters of this year is almost identical to the level recorded in the same period last year, with the increase in electricity generation from solar energy by about a quarter, while the production of electricity from wild wind turbines decreased by 12% as a result of weak wind in the first quarter.
Data issued by the Solar and Hydrogen Energy Research Center in the state of Baden-ZSW, and the German Energy and Water Economy Union (BDEW), indicated that the total power generation increased by 0.9% on an annual basis, while the percentage of electricity produced from power stations operating with coal and leggings increased more than 20% of the total production, and electricity produced from gas stations about 16%.
The German Minister of Economy and Energy, Katrina Reichh, who seeks to adjust the path of transformation in the energy sector, expected that the increase in electricity consumption in the coming years would be less severe, warning that this may have consequences for plans to expand renewable energy and electricity networks, at a time when it adheres to reaching the goal of raising the green electricity share to 80% by 2030.
