A new travel system to the “Schengen” area from October 12

Emirates Airlines said that starting October 12, 2025, the European Union will start implementing the new entry/exit system (ES) on the borders of the Schengen region. This system replaces the process of stamping manual passports, by creating a digital record for entry and exit information, which includes basic and biometric data (such as fingerprints and facial image).

The company said in a statement on its website, that for citizens of non -member states of the European Union or the Schengen region, and travelers to or from the Schengen region for short residence, this system applies to them.

She indicated that upon arrival for the first time, border staff will collect biometric data for the traveler (fingerprints and face survey) along with the passport data, and it will be safely saved in the system database.

She explained that on subsequent visits, travelers will not need to repeat the full process, as the data will be preserved in advance, and the traveler will be logged in and only digitally.

She stated that the regime does not apply to the citizens of the European Union, or residents of the Schengen region, or long -term visa holders or residence permits.

And “Emirates Airlines” advised passengers to allocate additional time for the border transit procedures, especially in the first flights after the start of the system.
