Sustainability in the Bank of Bahrain and Kuwait: a firm work approach and a passing trip trip to the border

Written by: Ali Al -Ansimir Sustainability in the Bank of Bahrain and Kuwait
Last week, in Muscat, I honored the award of the award “Best Developed Report for Environmental and Social Sustainability and Governance in the Middle East” on behalf of the bank, during the activities of the annual conference of the Investor Relations Association in the Middle East for the year 2025, along with the colleagues of Mohamed Al -Ali, the head of the strategy and sustainability, and Ahmed Abdel -Quddus, the head of the group’s secretary, amid a group of financial and investment leaders in the region.
This honor was a celebration of a new achievement added to the bank’s record of successes in the field of sustainability, and an affirmation of its serious and continuous commitment to enhancing environmental and social practices and governance in its various sections. We believed from the beginning that sustainability is not a luxury, but a commitment and responsibility towards future generations.
In the Bank of Bahrain and Kuwait, sustainability is a permanent promise to be better, and we drive a clear vision and a noble goal. This promise made a fundamental shift, turning the sense of responsibility into an ambitious strategy, and the strategy into a culture rooted in all corners of the institution.
Through studied steps, the bank succeeded in reducing its carbon mark, and adopted innovative solutions to raise energy efficiency, and expanded its role in financing green projects. But behind each initiative there is a deeper conviction: that real success is not only measured by profits, but also with the positive and permanent impact that we leave on people, societies and the environment.
Sustainability report for the period 2022-2024 embodies this trip. It is not just a document, but a testimony to our values and principles. It reflects our progress in the fields of governance, ethics, risk management, and social responsibility. It also highlights our efforts in managing greenhouse gas emissions, assessing climate impact, and investing in community development. But above all, it highlights the essence of our journey in sustainability: man.
We believe that enabling individuals is the true basis for sustainable change. That is why we invested in the welfare of employees, training them, and developing their career. We supported young people and women, participated in societal initiatives, and we devoted a culture of inclusion and care. These are not just programs, but an honest expression of our deep faith in the potential of man.
Obtaining this award was not an easy thing. Our report was subjected to an accurate evaluation of the jury, which included the clarity of the report and ease of access to it, and the extent of its compatibility with international standards such as GRI, SASB and TCFD. The extent to which the principles of sustainability were incorporated into governance structures and risk management within the bank. Therefore, this honor represents a valuable recognition of years of hard work and integrity that has drawn our path.
However, we do not consider this achievement the end of the road, but rather an important station on a continuous journey. The future holds challenges and challenges, and we at the Bank of Bahrain and Kuwait are ready to confront them with a clear determination and vision. We build a flexible, comprehensive and purposeful financial system, which places sustainability at the core of its priorities.
What makes this moment really special is the transformation it represents. In the Bank of Bahrain and Kuwait, sustainability is no longer a separate initiative, but rather has become part of our institutional identity. It is the lens through which we look at growth, innovation, and influence.
To the wonderful Bank of Bahrain and Kuwait, thank you. You have made this achievement possible with your passion, professionalism, and insistence. And to
The stakeholders, partners, and society are the oldest my sincere gratitude. This award is not the end of the trip, but rather a strong start for a more ambitious march.
Together, we will continue to lead with a vision, create a long -term value through responsible banking work, and deny our promise for a more sustainable future.
