The UAE and Germany are discussing ways to expand cooperation horizons and strengthen bilateral relations in vital sectors

Berlin, October 17 / WAM / His Excellency Dr. Sultan Ahmed Al Jaber, Minister of Industry and Advanced Technology, and Special Envoy to Germany, made an official working visit to the Federal Republic of Germany, during which he held a number of bilateral meetings with senior officials in the German government.

The meetings included His Excellency Friedrich Merz, Chancellor of the Republic of Germany, His Excellency Katrina Reiche, Minister of Economy and Energy, His Excellency Patrick Schneider, Minister of Transport, Dr. Levin Hohle, Director General for Economic, Financial and Climate Policies at the Federal Chancellery, and Sherpa, Federal Counselor at the G7 and G20 summits, in the presence of Her Excellency Lana Nusseibeh, Minister of State, His Excellency Ahmed Al-Attar, UAE Ambassador to Berlin.

This visit comes within the framework of the established relations between the two friendly countries, which are witnessing continuous growth in various vital fields, including the economy, energy, industry and advanced technology, which reflects the keenness of the two countries to strengthen bilateral cooperation and push it towards new horizons to achieve sustainable development.

During his meeting with the German Chancellor, His Excellency Dr. Sultan Ahmed Al Jaber conveyed the greetings of the leadership of the UAE, stressing the strength of the strategic relations between the two countries, and the keenness to develop and advance them in a way that contributes to enhancing integration and expanding the partnership at various local, regional and international levels.

During the meeting, the prospects for cooperation in vital fields were reviewed, and ways to support investments and sustainable economic cooperation were discussed for the benefit of the two friendly countries.

During the visit, His Excellency also met with Her Excellency Katrina Reiche, Minister of Economy and Energy, where the two sides reviewed ways to enhance cooperation in the fields of industry, the energy sector and advanced technology, with a focus on joint investment opportunities in the areas of transformation in the energy sector and green hydrogen.

During the meeting, the possibility of exploring and creating new strategic opportunities to develop qualitative partnerships between companies and institutions in the fields of advanced manufacturing, supply chains and modern industrial technologies was discussed and discussed, thus contributing to supporting innovation and enhancing the competitiveness of the industrial sector at the regional and global levels.

During his meeting with His Excellency Patrick Schneider, Minister of Transport, opportunities for cooperation were discussed in enhancing connectivity between the two countries and developing sustainable transport infrastructure, including smart transport, electric vehicles and integrated supply chains, in addition to exchanging experiences in the fields of public transport and digital technologies that support reducing carbon emissions.

It is worth noting that the volume of non-oil trade exchange between the two countries achieved a growth of 3.9% during the year 2024, recording 49.9 billion dirhams, and non-oil trade exchange continued to grow during the first six months of 2025 by 19% compared to the same period in 2024, recording about 27.6 billion dirhams, driven by the growth of all components of bilateral trade, as exports increased by 110%, and imports by 110%. 15%, while re-export recorded a growth of about 10%.
