President of Serbia: The shooting incident in front of Parliament is… "A terrorist attack"

Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic announced on Wednesday that the shooting incident that took place in front of the parliament building in Belgrade, which resulted in the injury of one person, was considered a “terrorist attack,” in light of the ongoing anti-government demonstrations for months. Vucic said – in a press conference following the incident -: “According to my political assessment and as a legal expert, a heinous terrorist attack was carried out against people and public property, and caused a public danger. As for the final legal description, it will be issued by the competent prosecutor’s office,” according to a report by the “Balkan” platform. News.
Local media reported that the injured person was in serious condition and undergoing surgery, while video clips published on the “X” platform showed Sounds of gunfire and black smoke rising from tents set up outside the parliament building.
The tents belong to supporters of President Vucic who set up a camp in front of Parliament in the face of anti-government student protests, which turned into the largest wave of demonstrations in the country since the overthrow of Slobodan Milosevic in 2000.
Vucic added that the perpetrator of the attack, who is retired, From Belgrade, he was immediately arrested, noting that “what happened was not surprising, as there were many calls to incite violence,” he said.
For their part, the organizers of the student protests, who are planning to organize a new large demonstration on October 31, confirmed that their movement “did not and will not take the path of violence,” according to a statement published on the platform "X"
It is noteworthy that the protests began last November after a canopy collapsed at a train station in the city of Novi Sad, killing 16 people, including two children, which sparked widespread anger against the government, which is accused of negligence in supervising restoration projects implemented by government companies.
