The Director General of the National Archives and Library chairs meetings "Arabica" In Barcelona
Barcelona – Spain, October 29 / WAM / His Excellency Dr. Abdullah Majid Al Ali, Director General of the National Archives and Library, chaired the meetings of the Arab Regional Branch “ARBICA” in his capacity as head of the branch, on the sidelines of the Congress of the International Council on Archives, held in Barcelona, during the period from 27 to 30 October this year.
The meetings were devoted to discussing the topics of the program committee concerned with archival projects around the world.
In his opening speech, His Excellency stressed the importance of supporting Arab archives and providing them with the necessary advice through the Arab Regional Branch, stressing the importance of communication and exchange of experiences between archival experts in the Arab world in a way that enhances cooperation and integration of efforts through the branch’s platform.
He appreciated the support of the wise leadership in the UAE and its developmental visions in the field of archiving and documentation, praising the ambitions of the Arab participants and their aspirations to advance the branch to be a distinguished model among the branches of the International Council on Archives.
Participants in the meeting expressed their interest in supporting archival projects sponsored by the International Council on Archives, with a focus on the “New Archivists” program, which extends for 18 months and includes specialized training in accordance with the latest international practices and standards, in addition to participating in major events such as the International Council on Archives meetings in Barcelona, which provides applied training within the conference workshops.
Representatives of Arab countries participating in the Congress of the International Archives Council, held in Barcelona, Spain, participated in the meeting.
The meetings also witnessed bilateral meetings between His Excellency Dr. Abdullah Majid Al Ali and a number of directors of the National Archives on the sidelines of Congress.
