"Sharjah culture" It will organize 25 cultural festivals and forums in the coming months

Sharjah, March 23 / WAM / The Sharjah Department of Culture is organizing 25 cultural festivals and forums as part of its annual program during the coming months at the local, Arab and African levels, in a way that enhances Sharjah’s cultural presence and confirms its leadership in supporting cultural and creative action.

His Excellency Abdullah bin Muhammad Al Owais, Head of the Sharjah Department of Culture, said that the cultural program for the coming months comes as an extension of the vision of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah, in striving to advance the wheel of Arab culture, in support of the cultural movement and creative energies in all literary fields, and consolidating Sharjah’s presence as a space for convergence between intellectuals and creative people.

He explained that the events constitute a cultural movement extending from Sharjah to the Arab world and Africa, noting that a wide audience awaits these cultural activities because of the cognitive, creative and aesthetic value they represent, and the opportunity they provide for great creators to consolidate their experiences and emerging talents to reveal their creativity.

He pointed out that preparations are underway to ensure that events are organized in a way that reflects Sharjah’s cultural status, and at the same time meets the aspirations of Arab intellectuals and creators.

His Excellency stated that the implementation of the Department’s annual program will continue until the end of next August, pointing out that today, Monday, will witness the launch of Sharjah Theater Days in its thirty-fifth session, with the March activities concluding with honoring the authors of the Department of Culture’s 2025 publications.

He explained that the month of April will witness the completion of the Sharjah Forum for Cultural Honoring of its Arab tours, as it holds its twenty-fifth session in Egypt, while it completes its move to Jordan to organize the twenty-sixth session. The same month will also witness the organization of the Art of Performances workshop in the House of Poetry, and the fifth Dibba Al-Hisn Cultural Festival, while in the same month Sharjah will also celebrate the winners of the twenty-ninth session of the Sharjah Award for Arab Creativity “first edition,” which will be held at the Palace of Culture in Sharjah.

He added that the coming months of May and June will witness the launch of five events, namely the Tetouan Festival of Moroccan Poets in its seventh session, an exhibition of the products of the Sharjah Calligraphy Centre’s courses, the Sharjah School Theater Festival, its 13th session in two stages, “preliminary and final”, and the Dibba Al-Hisn Duo Theater Festival in its ninth session. During the month of June, the Sharjah Forum for Cultural Honor will take place in its twenty-seventh session in Morocco, and in its twenty-eighth session in Mauritania.

His Excellency Al Owais pointed out that the Department of Culture is intensifying its preparations to implement the directives of His Highness the Ruler of Sharjah to organize the fifth session of Arab poetry forums in Africa during the coming July and August, stressing that these forums will be launched in their fifth session in Chad, Guinea, Benin, Ivory Coast, Senegal, Mali, Niger, Nigeria, and South Sudan, in addition to organizing the theatrical performance elements session in its 13th session at the Cultural Center in Kalba during August.
