"National Archives and Library" He reviews his various initiatives in "Dubai International Summit"

DUBAI, 2nd November, 2018 (WAM) – During its participation in the Dubai International Library and Publishing Summit 2025, which concluded yesterday, the National Archives and Library reviewed its various initiatives and efforts to preserve national memory and build identity.

The National Archives and the National Library participated in a scientific session entitled: “The National Archives and the Library… from preserving memory to creating knowledge,” in which he reviewed his pioneering experience in which he moved from collecting historical documents and records to the stage of publishing and content creation. He also presented a large number of his publications that were widely received by participants and visitors.

The session began by highlighting the process of the National Archives and Library, which was established in 1968, with the aim of collecting historical documents related to the United Arab Emirates and the Arabian Gulf region. It has consolidated its position among the most prominent cultural institutions in the region and the world, relying on advanced infrastructure and modern technologies in preserving and managing knowledge, to continue enriching the cultural arena with its publications that preserve documented historical information and support researchers and those interested in historical studies, in addition to organizing seminars, conferences and documentary exhibitions inside and outside the country.

The participants in the session reviewed the transformation witnessed by the National Archives and Library from an institution concerned with preserving documents to an institution that creates thought and knowledge, and contributes effectively to enhancing the cultural and knowledge scene in the country and the region.

The session’s topics were divided into three main topics, the first of which was preserving national memory and building identity, which dealt with the beginnings and the role of the archive and the national library in documenting national memory, then the topic of cultural identity and creating the future, which emphasized that preserving memory represents the first step towards building a sustainable knowledge future, while the third topic dealt with the role of the archive and the national library as a driver of knowledge and purposeful dissemination in light of global technical and cognitive transformations.

The session also reviewed the efforts of the Archives and the National Library in developing smart indexing systems based on artificial intelligence to analyze and classify documents accurately and quickly, which makes it easier for researchers to access information, contributes to transforming national heritage into a living source of education and innovation, and creating interactive databases that support future studies on identity, history, and cultural policies.

The Archives and National Library pavilion at the summit witnessed a large turnout of visitors who learned about its most prominent publications that document the country’s progress and enrich the National Library with specialized knowledge sources.
