Jerusalem Post: Former IDF Inspector General found alive

Israeli authorities conducted an hour-long search after finding Yifat Tomer-Yerushalmi’s car and a letter on Hatzok Beach, north of Tel Aviv. The police confirmed that the former military inspector general of the Israeli army, Major General Yifat Tomer-Yerushalmi, was found alive and unharmed on a beach in northern Tel Aviv after the Israeli authorities spent an hour searching for her on Sunday, according to the Jerusalem Post newspaper. On Sunday evening, Tomer-Yerushalmi’s car was found near the beach, where searches were ongoing. Israel’s N12 Channel reported that Tomer-Yerushalmi’s family initially reported her disappearance to local authorities, prompting a police search. In addition, a letter was found near her car.

In her resignation letter, she stated that she agreed to leak to N12 News a video showing Israeli soldiers sexually assaulting a Palestinian detainee. “I agreed to leak evidence to the media in an attempt to counter false propaganda against military law enforcement officials,” she said. I take full responsibility for all evidence sent to the media by this unit. Based on this responsibility, I have also decided to end my role as Military Inspector General.”
