Weqaya explained that the concept of “One Health” is based on a comprehensive approach, aiming to find a sustainable and effective balance between human health, animal health, and the safety of the surrounding environment. Achieving this balance requires strengthening close and joint cooperation between various stakeholders, such as the sectors Human, veterinary and environmental health, to work together towards achieving better results in confronting common health challenges.

Early detection of pathogens

The authority indicated that this close interrelation between the three sectors makes teamwork a very effective tool for preventing epidemics and diseases before they spread.
It indicated that this cooperation contributes directly to the early detection of pathogens and limiting their spread, which ensures the achievement of a healthy, sustainable life for the community.

Weqaya confirmed that the priority areas within this approach include urgent challenges, the most important of which is antimicrobial resistance, and the fight against zoonotic diseases known to be dangerous, such as rabies and bird flu. The approach also focuses on ensuring the safety of food and food-borne diseases, in addition to addressing challenges related to environmental safety, such as climate change and water pollution.
