The Board of Trustees of the Sharjah International Award for Cultural Heritage discusses the agenda of its sixth session

SHARJAH, 4th November, 2018 (WAM) – During its meeting today at the headquarters of the Arab Heritage Center of the Sharjah Institute for Heritage, the Board of Trustees of the Sharjah International Award for Cultural Heritage discussed a set of axes, main items, and development decisions that enhance the award’s status and leadership globally and ensure its functioning in accordance with the highest international standards.

The Council approved the timetable for the sixth session, including the stages of nomination, judging, and announcing the winners, stressing the necessity of adhering to the time frame to enable the arbitrators to accurately and transparently evaluate the works at all stages of the evaluation.

The meeting, which was chaired by Dr. Abdulaziz Al-Musallam, Chairman of the Board of Trustees, reviewed the nominated list of members of the award’s jury in its new session, which includes an elite group of experts and academics specializing in the three branches of the award “narrators, best practices and studies” from various countries of the world, in addition to discussing the proposed promotional and marketing plan that aims to expand the scope of the award globally and enhance its Arab and international presence, with a focus on attracting research institutions and those interested and specialized in the fields of heritage and documentation, especially the branches of living human treasures and best practices.

His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah, issued an administrative decision last September according to which the Board of Trustees of the Sharjah International Award for Cultural Heritage was formed with the aim of organizing it and consolidating its position as a leading international award in the field of cultural heritage.

The meeting was attended by Aisha Al-Hussan Al-Shamsi, Secretary-General of the Award, and Dr. Muhammad Yousef Al-Hammadi, Vice-Chairman of the Council, along with members of the Board of Trustees.
