Under the patronage of Hazza bin Zayed, the activities of the 16th session of the Al Ain Book Festival begin on November 24

Al Ain, 8 November / WAM / Under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Hazza bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Ruler’s Representative in the Al Ain Region, the Abu Dhabi Arabic Language Center is organizing the 16th session of the Al Ain Book Festival, during the period from 24 to 30 November, in Al Ain Square – Hazza bin Zayed Stadium.
This year, the festival offers a rich and diverse program that celebrates books and creativity. In addition to Hazza bin Zayed Stadium, events are organized at prominent cultural sites in the city, including Qasr Al Muwaiji and various educational institutions.
The upcoming session witnesses a 10% increase in the number of exhibitors to 220 exhibitors, 18% of whom are participating in the festival for the first time, which reflects its ability to provide a comprehensive cultural experience that celebrates creative industries, and enhances the position of the Al Ain region as a prominent destination for literary and cultural events.
In this context, His Excellency Mohammed Khalifa Al Mubarak, Chairman of the Department of Culture and Tourism – Abu Dhabi, said: As the most prominent cultural and literary event in the Al Ain region, the Al Ain Book Festival plays a vital role in supporting the publishing industry and developing local and regional talent, noting that its continued influence and high reputation are reflected in the noticeable increase in the number of new publishers joining this vital platform in its next session. The festival also has a tangible impact on the level of the local community in the Al Ain region, as it continues to inspire a culture of reading and knowledge. And creativity.
His Excellency Dr. Ali bin Tamim, Chairman of the Abu Dhabi Arabic Language Center, said: At each session, we renew our commitment to strengthening the position of the Al Ain Book Festival as a permanent platform for cultural creativity and direct interaction between publishing houses, authors and readers. Our partnership with new publishing houses and a number of leading cultural institutions locally and regionally reflects our joint efforts to enrich intellectual content and encourage children, adolescents and youth to read and learn about various literary and intellectual schools, in line with our strategy aimed at making culture an integral part of the fabric of the world. The festival’s vision is based on supporting Emirati writers and their publications, embracing young talents, and strengthening the publishing industry, while providing a platform that celebrates local creativity and opens up horizons of communication with the public, through sessions and activities that evoke the cultural memory of the Al Ain region and dedicate its authentic values, with a focus on encouraging reading, and consolidating the presence of the Emirati family at the heart of the interests of this cultural event.
The festival continues to enhance its role in inspiring the cultural memory of the Al Ain region, and evoking its authentic values, to address members of society of all age groups through a program full of events, in an effort to consolidate the status of reading as a societal culture, and to highlight the ability of the Arabic language to keep pace with developments in the global cultural, artistic and literary movement.
The festival also maintains the revival of the authentic heritage through its cultural initiatives, such as the “Nights of Poetry, the Sung Word” program, which evokes the aesthetics of Emirati folk poetry and its importance in consolidating the values of heritage identity. The program represents a cultural bridge that transmits the cultural and intellectual heritage to future generations, in a creative style that combines authenticity and contemporaneity.
In line with its annual tradition, the Center is organizing, as part of the festival’s activities, a ceremony to honor the winners of the Generation Treasure Award, which was launched in 2021, to support the status of popular poetry and highlight its role in expressing the conscience of society.
The ceremony, scheduled to be held at Al Muwaiji Palace, will celebrate the winners of the fourth session of the award, who were divided into the six branches of the award, which are: poetic competition, arts, studies and research, poetry publications, translation, and creative personality.
