Mama Anisa…the Kuwaiti childhood icon is honored after 60 years on screen

The famous Kuwaiti media personality, Anisa Jaafar, witnessed a new honor in her life, as she still maintains her position in the media community since her appearance 6 decades ago, and her specialization in preparing and presenting children’s programs, which gave her the title “Mama Anisa.”

This title is relevant to the media personality, who has become part of the memory of Kuwaitis who entertained them during their childhood, so that they honor her after they grow up, as she is the first Kuwaiti woman to work on Kuwait Television and present programs directed to children that are still present in the minds of Kuwaitis.
Last week, the Kuwaiti Cartoon Society honored “Mama Anisa” during an art exhibition it held at its headquarters, in which local and international artists participated, which included a group of caricature paintings of the famous media figure who has entered her ninth decade.

“Mother of Kuwaitis,” as some call her, was chosen as a character for the exhibition in commemoration of her name, as she is an educational and humanitarian symbol that instilled in generations the meaning of righteousness and giving, according to what the exhibition organizers explained to local media.

“Mama Anisa” is one of the most prominent Kuwaiti media personalities, and she has other titles, including “the beloved of the Arabs” and “the mother of generations.” She was born in 1935.
She received her education at the hands of the sheikhs of the Kuttab, who taught the Holy Qur’an and other sciences, like many Kuwaitis at the time, and she continued her education in the tribal school, where she became a teacher.

In 1960, “Mama Anisa” moved to Britain on a study mission to learn the English language, and after a year she returned to her country to join the state television, which was new, where she was chosen from those in charge of television at that time to present children’s programs in which she left an imprint throughout the generations.

She presented many programs on television, including: “Children’s Paradise,” “With the Children,” “Children’s Club,” “Boys and Girls,” “Children and Summer,” “Mama Anisa and the Children,” “Ayal al-Deira,” and on the radio: “Mama Anisa and the Children,” “Mama Anisa and the Youth,” “Having Meaning,” and “With the Youth.”
Her media work was not limited to children’s and educational programs, some of which she continued to present until recently. She had previously produced television works in the 1970s and 1980s, including “Al-Ghurabaa” and “The Choice.”

Previous literary publications shed light on the life of “Mama Anisa,” and one of the country’s schools bore her name in honor of her, because she worked in the education field and presented educational programs through her media career.
