Bapco Energies and Al-Awali Hospital expand the community health screening initiative

Bapco Energies – the integrated energy group that is leading the transformation of the energy sector in the Kingdom of Bahrain – and Al-Awali Hospital announced the expansion of the community health screening initiative in order to support community members in accessing basic medical examinations, especially those related to breast cancer and colorectal problems, with the aim of sustaining health care services and enhancing the quality of life of individuals.

This initiative comes as a continuation of the memorandum of understanding that the group signed with government hospitals in November 2023, and resulted in the conduct of 270 examinations for cancer patients referred from government hospitals according to a joint schedule with Al-Awali Hospital, targeting 81 cases of colonoscopy and 189 mammograms, which contributed to enabling immediate access to basic examinations and securing screening and early detection procedures that provide patients with successful treatment opportunities, reduce potential complications and remedial procedures, and contribute to saving health care costs.

In turn, Dr. Tariq Hamid, CEO of Medical Affairs at Al-Awali Hospital, said: “Our mission at Al-Awali Hospital is to provide exceptional care while constantly improving preventive and diagnostic services, through the expanded screening program. Our operations and initiatives are in line with national priorities in the field of cancer control by reducing waiting times, ensuring early detection, and enabling timely treatment. Bapco Energies’ support has contributed to expanding access to high-quality diagnostic methods, which is reflected in raising the level of health standards in Bahrain.

The strategic partnership between Bapco Energies, Al-Awali Hospital and government hospitals reflects its firm commitment to facing healthcare challenges in the Kingdom, by reducing pressure on referral systems and accelerating access to life-saving diagnoses, so that the program contributes to enhancing community health and well-being.
