A pilot and his co-pilot were killed in a plane crash in the Dominican Republic

Two people were killed in a private plane crash on the runway of La Romana International Airport in the eastern Dominican Republic, according to what the National Civil Aviation Authority announced.

The Dominican Civil Aviation Institute announced the death of the pilot and his co-pilot, noting that no passengers were reported on the plane.

The institute stated that the plane declared a state of emergency about 16 nautical miles southwest of “La Romana” and crashed while returning to the airport, and the authorities opened an investigation to determine the cause of the accident.
