Moscow is awaiting Japan’s decision regarding the resumption of direct flights

Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Andrei Rudenko said that Moscow is awaiting Tokyo’s decision on lifting the ban on flights to Russia, adding that the issue of resuming flights is under discussion at the corporate level.
Rudenko explained – in statements to the TASS news agency; Russian, in response to a question about the possibility of resuming flights: “Discussions are ongoing between the companies, but we will wait for instructions or permission from the Japanese authorities to operate these flights.” The Russian Federation has not imposed any ban on flights of Japanese airlines. We will wait for the decision of the Japanese government.
The Russian embassy in Tokyo had previously said that Japanese airlines, which were affected by the measures taken by the Russian government, are interested in resuming direct flights between the two countries.
The flow of tourists from Russia to Japan doubled in the first half of 2025, reaching nearly 84 thousand people.
