The Arab-German Conference for Sciences and Humanities continues its activities in Sharjah for the second day

Sharjah, November 19 / WAM / The activities of the second day of the Arab-German Conference for Sciences and Humanities continued at the Sharjah Academy for Space and Astronomy Sciences and Technology, which is organized in cooperation with the University of Sharjah and the Arab-German Academy for Young Researchers in Sciences and Humanities (AGYA), under the slogan “Cosmic Cooperation in the Sharjah Planetarium.”
The events were attended by Dr. Essam El-Din Ajami, Chancellor of the University of Sharjah, and Sibylle Pfaff, Consul General of the Federal Republic of Germany in Dubai and the Northern Emirates.
The agenda of the second day included a specialized scientific session that addressed topics in the fields of space and astronomy, with the participation of a group of researchers and academics, and was chaired by Dr. Lena Maria Müller and Dr. Muhammad Al-Wahaib, graduates of the Arab-German Academy for Young Researchers.
Dr. Mashhour Al-Wardat, Professor of Astrophysics at the University of Sharjah and Director of Academic Affairs at the Academy, gave a lecture in which he addressed the observational foundations of the heliocentric theory through a critical review of the evidence used by Copernicus.
Dr. Hans Christian von Hermann from the Technical University of Berlin gave a lecture entitled “What is the experience like inside a planetarium?”
The activities included the opening of the interactive artwork “Ionospheric Butterfly”, which is a joint project between the Academy and the Arab-German Academy for Young Researchers, produced by the artist Felix Kiessling and with the participation of the Academy’s Space Weather and Ionosphere Laboratory, where the artistic installation transforms real-time space weather data into light and color effects.
While the Sharjah Planetarium team presented a presentation entitled “Journey in the Universe,” giving attendees a visual experience to learn about the stars and stellar asteroids, accompanied by story-telling inspired by ancient knowledge.
The events concluded with honoring the winners of the “Next Generation Innovators” student competition, in addition to honoring the participants in organizing the event in appreciation for their efforts. This was followed by an astronomical observation that allowed attendees to view a group of celestial bodies, in an experience that combined scientific research, innovation and artistic expression.
