Did Fatima Bush give up the Miss Universe 2025 title?

A few weeks after being crowned Miss Universe 2025, Mexican Fatima Bosch put an end to rumors that she was considering giving up the crown. Bush emphasized in her statements: “Of course not. I will not walk away from the crown. I am here to complete a mission, not in search of fame, a fashion show, or marriage.”

Bush’s coronation was accompanied by widespread controversy from the first moment, as she was subjected to criticism and allegations that the result was planned in her favor. However, Miss Universe denied these allegations, saying: “I made the same effort as all the contestants. Talk about an arranged victory is just a joke.” She added: “I received threats after my coronation, but I will not remain silent.”

In an interview with Nightline, Bush revealed a public confrontation with the competition’s executive officer, Nawat Itsaragrisil, which led to a mass withdrawal of the female contestants. She said: “I was very afraid and feared that I would lose my title, but dignity is more important than any dream.”

Former referee Omar Harfouche had previously announced his resignation before the finals, accusing the organization of forming an alternative committee to select 30 contestants before the qualifiers, and of the existence of business relations between Bush’s father and the competition’s owner, Raul Rocha. The organization denied these allegations, describing what happened as a “hate campaign,” stressing that Bush’s father had nothing to do with the competition.

Despite the controversy and tensions, Bush remained steadfast in her position, stressing that the crown was a responsibility and not just a gift: “I came to serve and to lift up women, and I will not allow any noise to take away a historic moment from me.” (Erm News)
