Amna Al Shamsi is the first Emirati to join the International Advisory Group of the International Public Sector Accounting Standards Board

Abu Dhabi, 5 December / WAM / The Ministry of Finance announced the selection of Amna Hassan Al Shamsi, Director of the Ministry’s Financial Policies and Government Accounting Standards Department, as a member of the International Advisory Group “CAG” affiliated with the International Public Sector Accounting Standards Board “IPSASB”, for a period of three years, renewable up to nine years.

This selection is a new national achievement, as Amna Al Shamsi represents the first Emirati woman to join the membership of this international group, in a step that reflects the leadership position of the UAE in developing government financial and accounting standards at the global level.

This selection represents the first official representation of the UAE in this international group, which is concerned with supporting the development of international accounting standards and enhancing financial governance and transparency at the public sector level, which reflects international confidence in Emirati national competencies and their advanced role in developing financial policies and government accounting practices.

His Excellency Younis Haji Al Khouri, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Finance, stressed that this achievement is a qualitative addition to the country’s journey in enhancing its presence in international financial organizations, and consolidating its position as a pioneering country in adopting the best international standards in public financial management, in line with the objectives of the “We Are the Emirates 2031” vision, and the goals of financial sustainability and government transparency adopted by the wise leadership.

He pointed out that Amna Al Shamsi’s membership in this group comes as an affirmation of the position of Emirati women in financial leadership positions at the international level, and an embodiment of the UAE’s approach to empowering national competencies to participate in formulating and developing accounting standards and global financial frameworks.

The International Advisory Group (CAG) is one of the most important advisory arms of the International Public Sector Accounting Standards Board (IPSASB), as its membership includes an elite group of experts and representatives of international organizations, financial institutions and government bodies from around the world. It works as a consultative forum that supports the Council and contributes to providing advice on strategies, work programs, and technical issues related to the development of the International Government Accounting Standards (IPSAS).
