Anniversary of the passing of Zubaida Tharwat…an icon of quiet beauty

Today, Saturday, December 13, marks the anniversary of the passing of the great artist Zubaida Tharwat, one of the most prominent movie stars in the fifties and sixties of the last century, whose name was associated with roles of quiet romance and aristocratic beauty, as she left a prominent artistic imprint in the history of Arab art.
The artist Zubaida Tharwat was born in Alexandria on June 14, 1940, as her father was Ahmed Tharwat. She was a captain in the Egyptian Navy, while her mother belonged to the dynasty of Sultan Hussein Kamel. She finished her studies at Raml Secondary School, then joined the Faculty of Law and trained in the office of lawyer Labib Moawad, before later moving on to leave law work and devote herself to her artistic career.
She entered the world of art by chance after winning a competition organized by “Al-Jeel Magazine,” where her picture was published on the cover of the magazine, which caught the attention of directors. and its producers, to appear for the first time on screen in 1956 through the movie “Delilah”. Along with the artists Shadia and Abdel Halim Hafez.
She got her first absolute starring role in the movie “The Little Angel” In 1957, her cinematic works continued, presenting a credit of 27 films, the most prominent of which is “A Day in My Life.” And “there is a man in our house.” And a "very jealous wife" And an "incident of honor" And “Once upon a time, love.” And “The Sinners”.
Two of her films also entered the list of the 100 best films in the history of Egyptian cinema, and Zubaida Tharwat participated with the biggest stars of her generation, and presented a number of theatrical works, and her last artistic appearance was through the play “Who Can Help Reem?” In 1987, before she announced her retirement from art in the late eighties.
During her artistic career, President Gamal Abdel Nasser honored her for the movie “In Our House is a Man.” With Rushdi Abaza.
On the anniversary of her passing on this day, December 13, 2016, she remains a symbol of beauty and romance, and her works are an eternal witness to the time of beautiful art.
