UN report: Israeli settlement expansion in the occupied West Bank is at its highest levels

A new United Nations report showed that Israeli settlement expansion in the occupied West Bank has reached its highest levels since the United Nations began recording data related to this matter. 

BBC Radio reported today, Saturday, that the Secretary-General of the United Nations, António Guterres, condemned this expansion, which he described as “relentless.”

 

The report indicated that plans to build approximately 47,000 A housing unit was submitted, approved, or tenders were opened for it by Israel this year, which represents double the number recorded last year.

 

The radio indicated that about half a million Israeli settlers live in the West Bank, which is inhabited by approximately three million Palestinians.
