Flydubai launches direct flights to Riga, Latvia

Flydubai launched its first direct flights to Riga, the capital of Latvia, marking the start of its regular flights with three flights per week.
According to a press release issued today, the carrier’s inaugural flight landed at Riga International Airport amid a warm reception from airport officials, in a step that reflects the importance of the new destination linking the UAE and Latvia.
The UAE Ambassador to the Republic of Latvia, Noura Juma, said that this day represents a new stage in the friendly relations between the United Arab Emirates and the Republic of Latvia, and that the launch of direct Flydubai flights between Dubai and Riga will not only enhance communication between the two countries, but will also open broader horizons for tourism, business and cultural exchange.
Flydubai confirmed that the new flights are a vital factor in enhancing tourism movement in both directions and support the growing economic relations between the UAE and Latvia, as they provide travelers from Latvia with smooth flights to Dubai, the global aviation hub, and other connecting destinations.
Jeyhun Effendi, Regional Senior Vice President of Commercial Operations and E-Commerce at flydubai, said: “The launch of our new service to Riga reflects flydubai’s growing presence in Europe and supports our strategic commitment to expanding our network of destinations in markets that do not receive enough flights.
For her part, Chairwoman of the Board of Directors of Riga International Airport, Leila Udina, said that this new direct air route to Dubai will benefit not only travelers wishing to explore this major international city and the tourism gems of the UAE, but will also help strengthen trade and economic relations between the two countries.
