المملكة: Practical solutions to challenges… A specialist calls for the establishment of cities and human agriculture under water

The international consultant for sustainable development and specialist in educational technology, Dr. Matouk Abdullah Al-Sharif, called for adopting and supporting developed for , serving and specialized tourism.
It also contributes to creating practical solutions to the escalating population and environmental challenges, stressing that this trend embodies one of the most promising paths for the future of the blue economy and comprehensive sustainability.
Challenges Food security file
Al-Sharif explained that the world faces a growing challenge in the food security file, in light of accurate international indicators showing that global demand for food will rise significantly by 2050, which imposes the necessity of doubling food production to ensure the provision of sufficient food for all, at a time when climate changes are causing confusion in food systems and reducing traditional agricultural production.
He pointed out that the scarcity of water, the deterioration of agricultural lands, and the intensification of extreme climatic phenomena require the search for precautionary and sustainable alternatives, pointing out that underwater agriculture represents one of the promising future solutions to support the food security system and reduce dependence on traditional agriculture, which is most affected by climate risks.
Al-Sharif stressed that global visions, most notably the fourteenth goal of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, “Life Under Water,” are directly integrated with the goals of eliminating hunger and enhancing food security, through responsible investment in the seas, protecting marine ecosystems, and sustaining their resources.
A strategic environment supportive of investment
In the same context, he stressed that the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030 creates a strategic environment supportive of investment in the blue economy, renewable marine energy, and advanced agricultural and environmental technologies, in a way that enhances the Kingdom’s position as a global center for innovation and sustainability, and keeps pace with international transformations in this field.
He indicated that immediate solutions include developing sustainable coastal tourism, protecting coral reefs, and regulating marine activities, in addition to supporting scientific research in the fields of marine agriculture and aquaculture.
Future Solutions
While future solutions are to localize construction and underwater farming techniques, allowing the creation of flexible human and food environments capable of adapting to accelerating climate challenges.
Al-Sharif stressed that investing in the seas is no longer a secondary option, but rather a strategic necessity to ensure food security, environmental stability, achieve sustainable economic growth, and create a secure future for future generations.
