ABU DHABI, 31st December / WAM / The Abu Dhabi Award for Excellence in Inclusion of People of Determination “Integration”, launched by the Department of Community Development – Abu Dhabi under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Khalid bin Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Chairman of the Executive Council of the Emirate of Abu Dhabi, received 372 entries submitted by government and private institutions and the third sector in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi, within 3 axes of inclusive services, inclusive employment, and accessibility.
This wide turnout for the award in its first session reflects the consolidation of the culture of inclusion in institutions in Abu Dhabi, and the success of the continuous efforts made by the emirate over the years within the umbrella of the Abu Dhabi Strategy for People of Determination to provide an inclusive environment that provides equal opportunities for all.
The award comes as a culmination of these efforts of complementary work between institutions, and as an incentive for more initiatives that contribute to enhancing the quality of life of people of determination and their families and enabling them to participate effectively in various areas of life.
Her Excellency Dr. Laila Al Hayas, Executive Director of the Family and Child Care Sector at the Department of Community Development, confirmed that the volume of entries in the first edition of the “Integration Award” reflects the Emirate of Abu Dhabi’s societal awareness and commitment to institutional excellence towards the inclusion and empowerment of people of determination, and is the result of wise leadership guidance and diligent work in which various entities and institutions participated to promote integration in various fields, in various services, employment and empowerment opportunities, and in society as a whole.
Her Excellency also appreciated the great interaction of institutions to participate, which reflects the unified vision adopted by the Emirate of Abu Dhabi to establish inclusion as a basic value in its integrated system, which brings together various sectors from one integrative framework that supports the achievement of Abu Dhabi’s strategy for people of determination, and enhances Abu Dhabi’s position as an inclusive city and a pioneer in empowering people of determination.
Al Hayas added that the Integration Award comes within the framework of the Department of Community Development’s commitment to sustaining efforts to empower people of determination within a comprehensive framework that enhances institutional excellence in the field of integrating people of determination, community awareness, stimulates social innovation, and supports the achievement of Abu Dhabi’s vision of a cohesive society that enjoys a high quality of life for all.
She appreciated the great efforts made by the award’s work team through introductory workshops and follow-up efforts that targeted governmental, private and non-profit agencies and institutions, which contributed to raising the level of awareness of the application criteria and participation requirements.
