المملكة: The first 3-year leadership track for family doctors at Imam Abdul Rahman University


I launched Imam Abdul Rahman bin Faisal University, represented by The Center for Family and Community MedicineIn partnership with the Leadership Center, the “Leadership in Health Care” program, in a qualitative step targeting family medicine fellowship trainees and" target="_blank">Saudi Board to link clinical skills with modern institutional leadership thought.

The program was opened by Dr. Assem Al-Ansari, Vice President for Development and Community Partnership, in the presence of an elite group of health and academic leaders, to inaugurate a new phase of qualitative qualification for doctors.

The launch ceremony witnessed the presence of Professor Dr. Mahdi Abu Madini, Executive Director of the Center for Family and Community Medicine, Major General Dr. Khaled Al-Faraidi, and the Executive Director of the University’s Medical City, Dr. Saad Al-Omari, in support of this strategic direction.

Developing competencies

Dr. Al-Ansari stressed that the program reflects the university’s firm commitment to developing the leadership competencies of family doctors, to enable them to perform vital roles that go beyond traditional medical practice to effective leadership in the primary care system.

He revealed that the program was designed as an integrated training path extending for three years, relying on a gradual methodology in capacity building to ensure qualitative and sustainable outcomes.

Interactive Workshops

The training course, through interactive workshops, covers precise topics, including decision-making, managing multidisciplinary teams, and the arts of leadership communication, with the participation of specialized experts.

The training content also focuses on change management skills, and quality and safety standards, with the aim of enhancing professional responsibility and developing strategic thinking among future doctors.

For his part, Dr. Adam Al-Dowayan, supervisor of the program, explained that the project aims to comprehensively improve the training outcomes to enable graduates to Excellence and leadership in the competitive health labor market.

Strategic Initiative

Al-Duwayan stressed that the program represents a practical response to the health sector’s renewed requirements, and a strategic initiative in line with the goals of the Kingdom’s Vision 2030 in developing human capital.

The program embodies a model of integration between academic and training tracks, to ensure the graduation of doctors who possess clinical competence and the ability to make a positive impact in society and the hospital.

Those in charge of the initiative aim to refine Doctors’ skills to be leaders capable of making strategic decisions, improving the treatment experience for patients, and significantly raising the quality of services.
