The United States breaks the 100 million tons barrier and leads global liquefied gas exports

Washington, January 3 / WAM / The United States achieved a historic precedent in 2025, as it became the first country whose exports of liquefied natural gas exceeded the 100 million metric tons barrier in one year, thus capturing nearly a quarter of global supplies.

According to LSEG data published by Bloomberg, Washington outperformed its closest competitor by 20 million tons, recording an annual increase in production of about 23 million tons.

Alex Munton, global director of gas and LNG at research firm Rapidan Energy Group, attributed this 24% annual growth to extensive utilization of key stations and the rapid commissioning of new production facilities, which contributed to five monthly records during the year.
