Sultan Al Qasimi receives a delegation of the founders of the Arabic Language Academy in Beirut…and congratulates the launch of the Academy’s work in cooperation with Sharjah.

Sharjah, 4 January / WAM / His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah, Supreme President of the Arabic Language Academy in Sharjah, received this Sunday morning the delegation of the founders of the Arabic Language Academy in Beirut, Lebanon, headed by Dr. Emile Badie Yaqoub, and His Excellency Dr. Rashid Derbas, at the Dr. Sultan Al Qasimi House in the University City.

At the beginning of the meeting, His Highness the Ruler of Sharjah welcomed the delegation, congratulating His Highness on the establishment of the Arabic Language Academy in Beirut and the launch of its work in cooperation with Sharjah, pointing out the historical richness that Lebanon enjoys in Arab culture and literature, the role of its scholars and writers, and their distinguished contribution in various fields of creativity and arts. His Highness affirmed the Academy’s support to enable it to carry out its major roles in its fields of specialization, wishing those in charge of it every success in achieving what the Academy aspires to in supporting efforts to preserve the Arabic language and its history and enhance its spread.

His Highness pointed out the importance of communication between Arabic language academies in the Arab world, which contributes to achieving all their goals in serving the Arabic language in its various fields, such as documentation, publishing, scientific research, and knowledge and cultural exchange.

During the meeting, His Highness the Ruler of Sharjah touched on the role of the Arabic Language Academy in Sharjah in communicating with the rest of the Arabic language academies in all Arab countries and other institutions in European and African countries, and supporting them in a way that reflects the desired results in spreading and documenting the Arabic language, connecting new generations with it, and enhancing its leading position in various sciences and knowledge, through fruitful cooperation in various activities, events and publications.

For their part, the delegation of the founders of the Arabic Language Academy in Lebanon expressed their thanks and gratitude to His Highness the Ruler of Sharjah for His Highness’s unlimited support for the Academy and all other academies in various countries, which resulted in integrated projects led by the Emirate of Sharjah in the fields of the Arabic language, literature and arts, and in encouraging scholars and writers to write and publish, covering the Historical Dictionary of the Arabic Language, the most prominent Arab and international achievement in the field of linguistic dictionaries.

At the conclusion of the meeting, His Highness the Ruler of Sharjah kindly received a memorial shield from the delegation of the Arabic Language Academy in Lebanon and a number of different publications by members of the Academy. His Highness also took memorial photos with the delegation.
