المملكة: Urgent intervention in Qassim… saving a woman from an arterial explosion in the brain

A specialized medical team has succeeded in Al-Rass General Hospital, where she underwent a precise surgical intervention using neurointerventional catheter technology, which reflects the efficiency of integration between the components of Al-Qassim Health Complex.

The chapters of the medical story began when the Al-Rass General Hospital emergency room received a patient in her forties suffering from a severe and sudden headache, which quickly developed and was accompanied by weakness in the right side of the body and a disturbance in consciousness.

Active cerebral bleeding

The doctors subjected the patient upon her arrival to careful diagnostic tests that revealed the presence of an active cerebral bleeding resulting from a dangerous dilation in one of the main arteries feeding the cerebellum.

She was summoned. The severity of the case immediately activated the medical referral and coordination system between the cluster’s hospitals, so that the patient was transferred as quickly as possible to King Fahd Specialist Hospital in Buraidah due to the availability of advanced capabilities.

The specialized medical team examined the case immediately upon its arrival, and decided to perform urgent intervention via neurointerventional catheterization without the need for open surgery, given the sensitivity of the bleeding site.

Restoring blood flow

The surgeons were able, with great skill, to reach the location of the arterial aneurysm and place a fine metal coil. She closed it completely, stopping the bleeding immediately and restoring normal blood flow.

The medical team confirmed the success of the therapeutic intervention in sparing the patient serious neurological complications, noting that her health condition improved significantly and her vital indicators stabilized in intensive care.

The Qassim Health Complex praised this medical achievement that embodies the speed of response and integration between its facilities, stressing its continued provision of specialized care that keeps pace with the goals of the Kingdom’s 2030 vision for health transformation.
