Implement Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture in the Riyadh region An intensive field monitoring campaign, during which more than 4,200 kilograms (4.2 tons) of poultry of unknown origin were seized, found inside irregular points of sale in a number of Public benefit markets in the city of Riyadh, and were destroyed in coordination with the concerned authorities in accordance with regulatory procedures.

This seizure comes as an extension of a series of inspection campaigns carried out during the past weeks, as more than (5) tons of poultry of unknown origin were seized earlier in multiple locations in the capital, while tracking operations resulted in the discovery of several random slaughterhouses established inside illegal meat rest houses.

Meat Violation

This brings the total of what was seized recently to more than (10) tons of violating poultry meat, an amount sufficient to feed more than (40,000) people.

The branch reported that these efforts come within a comprehensive monitoring plan implemented throughout the year, and aims to raise the level of compliance in markets and slaughterhouses, enhance consumer confidence in traded animal products, and ensure that establishments adhere to health requirements. And approved veterinary.

He pointed out that the past year witnessed the issuance of (6,579) violations against violating facilities, with a total amount exceeding (6,527,800) riyals, in confirmation of the Ministry’s seriousness in implementing regulations and monitoring violations without tolerance. The branch confirmed that oversight work continues, which contributes to protecting consumer health, preserving the rights of local products from tampering and counterfeiting, and improving the quality of markets.
