World Future Energy Summit 2026 and IMI present daily screenings of the film “The Ocean with David Attenborough”

ABU DHABI, 9 JANUARY / WAM / IMI Media Group, which is headquartered in Abu Dhabi, announced the presentation of daily screenings of the cinematic documentary “The Ocean with David Attenborough”, on the sidelines of the activities of the World Future Energy Summit 2026, which will be held during the period from 13 to 15 January at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre, within Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week.

The 95-minute film screening, produced by Silverback Films, affiliated with All3Media, a RedBird IMI company within IMI Ventures, highlights humanity’s relationship with the oceans, its vital role in stabilizing the planet, as well as the most prominent threats facing marine ecosystems and the opportunities available for their recovery.

The film won the Best Scientific/Natural Documentary Award and the Best Cinematography Award at the 2025 Documentary Film Critics Awards.

On the opening day of the summit, attendees will have the opportunity to participate in a live dialogue session following the screening of the film, including a Q&A with director Keith Scholey of Silverback Films, one of the world’s leading natural documentary filmmakers, whose works include “Our Planet,” “Our Planet 2,” “Perfect Planet,” “Earthshot Prize: Fixing Our Planet,” and “David Attenborough: Life on Our Planet.”

Shuli said that participating in the World Future Energy Summit represents an important opportunity to screen the film “The Ocean with David Attenborough,” which focuses on protecting the oceans, praising the role of the UAE in supporting international efforts to preserve marine life.

The film was released last May and was shown for the first time in London in the presence of His Majesty King Charles III and Crown Prince William, Prince of Wales. It presents cinematic scenes documenting coral reefs, seaweed forests and the open ocean, in addition to highlighting urgent challenges, including overfishing and bleaching of coral reefs.

For her part, Sofia Sheikh, Director of Content and Marketing at the World Future Energy Summit, said that the summit seeks to transform climate ambitions into practical steps, stressing that the partnership with the IMI Group reflects the importance of visual storytelling in supporting the global dialogue on sustainability, and enhancing public awareness of the magnitude of environmental challenges.

The film will be shown once a day throughout the three days of the summit at Greenpeace Cinema, located in Hall Two of the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre, and screenings will be available to all summit participants, including policymakers, sector leaders, investors, media, students, and innovators.

Ali Yousef Al Hammadi, Chief Operating Officer of the IMI Group, said that screening the film during the summit confirms the group’s commitment to supporting meaningful storytelling that contributes to strengthening global efforts to achieve sustainability, especially during international forums concerned with climate issues.

In its eighteenth edition, the World Future Energy Summit 2026 will witness the participation of more than 400 expert speakers, and includes specialized tracks and new areas focusing on advanced technologies and market opportunities, in addition to hosting international summits and qualitative conferences, which enhance the summit’s position as a global intellectual platform that combines policies, innovation and sustainable impact.
