Manchester United’s disasters continue with their exit from the FA Cup

Manchester United exited the FA Cup, losing 1-2 at home to Brighton & Hove Albion.

United’s focus will now be solely on the English Premier League, as the team suffered greater disappointment in interim coach Darren Fletcher’s second match, and his first at Old Trafford.

After Manchester United lost to Grimsby Town, which belongs to the fourth division, in their first match in the League Cup this season, the FA Cup represented their only remaining chance to win a title, but Brighton well deserved its first victory over United in this tournament.

Brian Gruda’s goal in the 12th minute gave Brighton the lead, and Welbeck doubled the lead with a powerful shot midway through the second half.

Benjamin Shishko gave United a glimmer of hope, but they were unable to find an equalizer, and their suffering was completed when young player Shea Lacey received a red card for receiving a second warning.

This is the first time that Manchester United, a 13-time FA Cup winner, has lost in the third round since 2014.
