The Human Rights Office warns: The horrific violations in El Fasher must not be repeated in South Kordofan

He added in a statement: “During his visit to Sudan, specifically to Al-Afad camp for displaced people in Al-Daba, which contains about 20,000 displaced people, High Commissioner Volker Türk witnessed the shock and enormous impact of the brutality that children, men and women suffered in Al-Fasher, while trying to flee.”
The spokesman said that parties to the conflict must ensure that forces allied with them or under their control act in accordance with international human rights law and international humanitarian law, including, fundamentally, curbing such violations and abuses and holding those responsible accountable, regardless of their affiliation.
Throughout this conflict, Al-Khitan said, all parties have committed serious violations and abuses of international human rights law and serious violations of international humanitarian law, especially when the fighting was intensifying to impose one party’s control over new areas.
Having witnessed the devastation of vital civilian infrastructure at the Merowe Dam and hydroelectric power station, the High Commissioner for Human Rights said that the Rapid Support Forces and the Sudanese Armed Forces must stop their unprovoked attacks on civilian targets that are indispensable to the population, including markets, health facilities, schools and shelters.
