65% of the development of the bridge leading to the entrances and exits of Dubai Harbour has been completed

The Roads and Transport Authority has completed 65% of the project to implement a bridge with a length of 1,500 metres, with a capacity of two lanes in each direction, which provides a direct entrance and exit from Sheikh Zayed Road to the Dubai Harbour area, which is an exceptional waterfront that includes the largest yacht marinas in the Middle East. The implementing company has completed 90% of the work to improve and modify the services intertwined with the project, in parallel with the implementation of approved traffic diversions, ensuring the flow of traffic and continuity of implementation. Construction and road works, according to the approved schedule, and the project is expected to be completed in the third quarter of this year.

The Director General and Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Authority, Mattar Al Tayer, said that the implementation of the project comes as a translation of the directives of the wise leadership in developing an integrated infrastructure that supports the rapid urban and economic growth that Dubai is witnessing. He pointed out that the project that the Authority is implementing in coordination and cooperation with Shamal Holding, the leading investment company that manages a diverse portfolio of investments, experiences and exceptional assets, embodies a practical model of integration and close cooperation between the Authority and strategic partners in the private sector, ensuring the compatibility of road and transportation projects. With urban development plans in the new areas and the waterfront of the emirate, with the aim of improving the transportation experience and supporting the quality of life, in line with Dubai’s vision of consolidating its position as a leading global city for living, working and investing.

Al Tayer added: “The project includes the implementation of a bridge extending from the fifth intersection on Sheikh Zayed Road (near the American University in Dubai), passing through the intersection of Al Naseem Street and Al Falak Street, and passing over the intersection of King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud Street, all the way to Dubai Harbor Road, with a length of 1,500 metres, with a capacity of two lanes in each direction, and a total capacity estimated at about 6,000 vehicles per hour in both directions. It also includes implementing development and surface improvement works at four intersections. Extending along the bridge, it is the fifth intersection on Sheikh Zayed Road, the intersection of Al Falak Street with Al Naseem Street, the intersection of King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud Street with Al Naseem Street, and Dubai Harbor Road. When completed, the project will contribute to enhancing the flow of traffic and reducing travel time from 12 minutes to 3 minutes.”

He added: “The bridge contributes to facilitating daily trips to and from Dubai Harbor by linking it directly to Sheikh Zayed Road, which enhances the quality of life for residents and visitors alike. It is worth noting that Dubai Harbor is unique in its distinguished location between Bluewaters Island and Palm Jumeirah, and close to Dubai’s most famous landmarks such as Burj Al Arab, and includes many living, shopping and entertainment options. A development project extending over a distance of 1.5 kilometers is currently being implemented, including a residential complex containing 24 towers and approximately 7,500 apartments.
