Water supply and metro traffic stopped… a widespread power outage in Ukraine

Electrical lines between Moldova and Romania and Ukraine due to a widespread outage in Ukrainian power grid Saturday caused by "Technical glitch"according to what the country’s Minister of Energy announced.
The power outage resulted in the cessation of water supplies to the capital, Kiev, and a complete cessation of metro traffic in the city, affecting thousands of passengers.
Energy Minister Denis Shmygal said in a post on Telegram "At 10:42 a.m. today (8:42 GMT), a technical defect occurred that led to the simultaneous stopping of a 400-kilovolt line between the electricity networks in Romania and Moldova on the one hand, and a 750-kilovolt line between western and central Ukraine on the other hand."
He explained that electricity is expected to be restored "In the next few hours"

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky described the incident as"Emergency"He stressed that work is underway to restore service. He pointed out that "The mission is to stabilize the situation soon"
This problem places additional pressure on the electricity network in Ukraine, which is already in a fragile state after weeks of intense Russian bombing.
All subway trips were suspended on Saturday due to a power outage. About 800,000 passengers use the metro network daily, according to data published last year. Residents also resort to its 52 stations to take shelter from Russian bombing.
