Ukrainian Svitolina and American Pegula qualify for the final of the Dubai Women’s Tennis Championship
Dubai, February 21, WAM / Ukrainian Elina Svitolina and American Jessica Pegula qualified for the final match of the 26th edition of the Dubai Duty Free Tennis Championship for women in the 1000 points category, after their victory today in the semi-finals, which was held on the main court of the Dubai Duty Free Tennis Stadium.
In the first match, Svitolina, the seventh seed and Dubai Tennis champion in 2017 and 2018, decided her match against American Coco Gauff, the third seed, with a score of 6-4, 6-7, 6-4, in a marathon match that lasted 3 hours, 3 minutes and 40 seconds.
In the second semi-final, American Jessica Pegula, seeded fourth, defeated her compatriot Amanda Anisimova, seeded second, with a score of 1-6, 6-4, 6-3, in a match that lasted two hours, two minutes and 31 seconds.
Thus, Svitolina will face Pegula in the final match scheduled for tomorrow, in an anticipated confrontation for the title of one of the most prominent tournaments of the Women’s Professional Association in the thousand-point category.
