ABU DHABI, 23 February, 2017 (WAM) – The Abu Dhabi Export Office (ADEX), the export financing arm of the Abu Dhabi Fund for Development, organized a workshop on export credit, with the participation of a group of local and international credit partners, as part of its ongoing efforts to enhance institutional integration within the trade financing system, and support the competitiveness of UAE exports in global markets.

The workshop, which is a strategic platform for dialogue and interaction with entities working in the credit sector, highlighted the role of credit as an important tool in supporting export financing, enhancing risk management, and raising levels of confidence in foreign trade transactions, in line with the rapid growth in the volume and complexity of export activities and the diversity of target markets for Emirati exporters.

The workshop was opened with a speech delivered by Khalil Fadel Al Mansouri, Executive Director of the Abu Dhabi Exports Office, in which he stressed that developing the trade credit system is an essential pillar in building a flexible and sustainable financing environment, noting ADEX’s keenness to consolidate long-term strategic partnerships with entities working in this sector.

He said that credit represents one of the strategic elements in the work model of the Abu Dhabi Export Office and provides effective tools to distribute risks, enhance the ability to finance deals, and supports the sustainability of financial strength in the long term. The workshop comes within the framework of an institutional approach aimed at developing integrated partnerships that contribute to supporting the growth of foreign trade in a sustainable manner.

The workshop reviewed various topics, including the evaluation standards and methodologies adopted by ADEX, as well as risk management frameworks and protocols followed in the event of facing any future challenges, which contributed to clarifying roles and responsibilities, and enhancing transparency and alignment with partners.

Participants learned about ADX’s work in developing export financing tools, including the development of its credit portfolio in cooperation with Marsh, one of the leading global companies in insurance brokerage and risk management consulting, in addition to the most prominent achievements that contributed to strengthening the office’s institutional presence in international credit markets.
