Dubai Police arrests an Asian gang practicing begging

The Dubai Police General Command warned against sympathizing with beggars and giving them money, and not believing their methods through which they aim to entice people to obtain material and in-kind benefits, with fabricated stories and tricks with which they beg the public in front of the doors of mosques, clinics and hospitals, or in markets and roads.
Brigadier Ali Salem Al Shamsi, Director of the Department of Suspects and Security Phenomena at the General Department of Criminal Investigation and Investigation, said that Dubai Police is continuing its fight against begging through the “Combat Begging” campaign that it launched under the slogan “A Conscious Society, Without Begging,” in cooperation with strategic partners represented by the General Administration of Residency and Foreigners Affairs in Dubai, and the Department of Islamic Affairs and Charitable Activities in Dubai, with the aim of raising awareness of the importance of preserving the country’s civilized image by combating begging and preventing it.
Brigadier Ali Al Shamsi stressed that beggars deceive people and exploit their feelings to earn money illegally, explaining that Dubai Police arrested a gang of Asian nationality consisting of 13 people whose leader is run from outside the country. They use various methods to beg the feelings of community members and ask for help by claiming that they are stranded in the country.
Brigadier Ali Al Shamsi stressed the importance of not responding to these beggars, or dealing with them with feelings of compassion and kindness, and to assist the police agencies by immediately reporting any beggar who is spotted anywhere on the call center (901) or the (Police Eye) service available on the Dubai Police smart phone application, and the (E-Crime) platform for reporting electronic crimes.
Brigadier Ali Al Shamsi stated that there are official channels for charitable works and providing aid through charitable bodies and institutions to ensure that donations reach those who deserve them, urging members of society to donate through these official channels, stressing the continued efforts of the Dubai Police in confronting the scourge of begging, which harms the civilized face of society, as it is a form of fraud and fraud concealed by following misleading fraudulent methods.
